ALS Ice Bucket Challenge

UGA President Jere Morehead

President Jere W. Morehead participated in the ALS Ice Bucket Challenge along with two students on August 22, 2014. Morehead issued a challenge to Dr. Steve Stice, a Georgia Research Alliance Eminent Scholar who conducts neuroscience research. In anticipation of the upcoming football season opener for Georgia and Clemson, Drew Jacoby and Peyton Bell issued challenges to their counterparts at Clemson.

Dr. Steve Stice, Georgia Research Alliance Eminent Scholar who conducts neuroscience research participated in the ALS Ice Bucket Challenge. Stice was issued a challenge by UGA President Jere W. Morehead. Stice conducts neuroscience research at UGA’s Regenerative Bioscience Center, a collaborative effort involving faculty interested in and funded in regenerative medicine. Dr. John Peroni, Regenerative Bioscience Center (RBC) participated in the ALS Ice Bucket Challenge. Peroni was issued a challenge by RBC director Steven Stice. Peroni's lab recently supplied stem cells for Dr. Chad Schmiedt, a board-certified small animal surgeon who heads UGA's feline kidney transplant program. Schmiedt and Peroni recently saved "Arthur the cat." in the first ever stem cell feline transplant. For more information on Arthur, visit uga.edu/releases.
